Let's start with our "Cover Kitty" Meet Momma

Some of you that know me already know this, but for those that don't "my" ( for lack of a better word) colony has always been referred to as the "Big Mike's " cats, and for YEARS, nobody realized they were being cared for.. or at least to the best of my ability ... "Momma"  was a feral skinny little thing that was so starved not only for food, but attention, she would sit a few feet away, and give me this look like she wanted SO BADLY  to trust me, but was just unsure. I worked with her EVERYDAY until I got her to sit next to me. She was good  as long as I didn't try to touch her, it wasn't  long though before I could pet her for very short periods, then , over time actually coaxed her inside and was able to photograph her. This photograph landed her a wonderful home as a barn cat where she is currently living her best life. She made it! Off the street, out of danger, cared for and LOVED ! THAT ya'll is what it's all about ! This is why I / We do it. They ALL deserve that chance ! One - At - A - Time !

 Hi !

Welcome to C.L.A.W.S, I  am glad you are here, and hope you will follow us and check in often . If you have read my Introduction, you will see that I am actually a local photographer with a love of animals and helping them in any way I can. This Blog is dedicated to bringing awareness to just how great that need is, and providing help to as many as possible in the form of Spay / Neuter, medical treatment, food as they live out their lives in their current colonies, and last but not least, helping place as many as possible into their forever homes. This is strictly a N0T-FOR-PROFIT endeavor and I hope to eventually turn this into an actual 501-c , but I currently do not have the extra time or the extra personnel required to obtain and run the 501-c, and these animals need help NOW, and financially I am doing all I can as one individual and it just isn't enough !

My inspiration in this endeavor comes from Barbara Seaman , the founder of Felines Under rescue ( FUR) She is an EXTRAORDINARY  woman ! I was put in contact with her through local resident Melissa O'Brien. Through them,  Tressa Odom and I were able to trap and transport approximately 18 cats to a local veterinarian for spay / neuter . Two shy of the entire colony! This is an excerpt from one of FUR's latest posts:

Another month gone by with FUR (Felines Under Rescue) paying for veterinary medical needs for cats and dogs. Each month gets worse. More and more animals in need of help. $16,000 for one month. I think that is the highest ever. 134 cats fixed, 7 dogs. 35 cats and 10 dogs received medical care. So many are from injuries (amputated limbs, enucleated eyes) from kittens and puppies found homeless or birth problems (pyrometra or breech birth) with mother dog or cat - expensive surgeries. These bills could have been avoided if spay/neuter had been available for cats and dogs. I would much rather pay $50 towards a spay/neuter than $450 for amputation of a poor little kitten’s leg.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would LOVE to be able to provide funds for these services on a local level, to help alleviate some of her costs because she has given so much to our area strays that people aren't even aware of !

I will be posting photos and stories of cats/ kittens I / we have helped to date. I do understand hesitation to donate not being 100% sure where your donation is going, HOWEVER , I promise to disclose every penny received, every penny spent here on the blog. If you feel compelled to help in any way, no donation is too small , Donations can be mailed to C.L.A,W.S c/o Shelline Watts 105 S. Cotton St. Andalusia, Al., 36420, or Venmo : @shelline-watts . Food and litter is also ALWAYS in need if you want to help in that area, you can e-mail me @ shelline3@gmail.com for drop off location or I will be glad to pick- up !
